I am 24 year old Bec from Sydney, Australia. I’m a trained Primary School Teacher and have been relief teaching for 2 years. I’m a musician, a cat lover, a lover of learning foreign languages and a passionate world traveller.
From my very first overseas trip to New Zealand at the age of 12 I caught the travel bug! The idea of going on a plane and three hours later arriving in a completely different place sounded fun and exciting!
With a brand new passport stamp, new adventures and stories yet to unfold, I was interested and encouraged to explore what the world had to offer. The picture below is my sister and I at Hot Water Beach in Coromandel, New Zealand.
Up until the age of 20, I had taken small trips to wonderful places including 2 other separate visits to New Zealand experienced with family members and also my best friend, plus a high school group trip to New Caledonia to practice our understanding of the French language!
While studying my teaching degree, the offer came up to undertake a teaching placement overseas, so being the keen and passionate traveller that I am I signed up and taught in Lautoka, Fiji for three weeks which was an unforgettable teaching experience.
As the end of my teaching degree was approaching, I decided I was due for another adventure so as a graduation present to myself, I took a five week trip to the continent of Africa travelling across 6 countries including Mozambique, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa, with three weeks of the five spent camping in a tent!
It wasn’t until 2014 that I took my biggest overseas trip to date spending approximately 4.5 months of the year travelling around the world visiting 20 countries spanning over 2 continents (USA and Europe). An extended trip overseas was something I always wanted to do, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life!
Why I started “The World as Bec Sees It”
Adventures, stories, tips and experiences of travelling the globe, to share with like minded and future travellers such as yourselves, and also my friends and family!
My travels on a blog website instead of clogging everyone’s news feeds on Facebook and instagram!
Conquer My Post Travel Blues
When I got home from my 4.5 months overseas I found planning my future travels ended up with no bookings due to low funds, so travel writing and blogging came to mind because I love travelling the globe, I love talking about travelling the globe (non-stop as my family would agree), so I thought why not WRITE about travelling the globe?!
Where am I going next?
I will be in Sydney Australia, teaching in various primary schools as a casual/relief teacher. My plan as it has been since I started teaching is to enjoy and progress in my career, while taking as many opportunities to travel the globe as humanly possible!
I currently have plans and itineraries for almost every continent of the world, so at this point you will have to keep reading to find out where my next adventure will take me. In the meantime, I will be posting on the blog about my previous travel stories, experiences and adventures!
So to my like-minded traveller friends and to those who are future travellers, Welcome! and I hope you enjoy reading about the world as I see it! I hope you find my blog not only informing but also an inspiration to your future travels!
